Privacy Policy

Pawprint ("we", "us", "our") helps people generate AI memorial wallpapers and short videos of their pets. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

We've kept this short and direct. If anything is unclear, email zhfreeustc@icloud.com.

1. What we collect

Anonymous cookie ID (pawprint_uid) — a random UUID stored in your browser to track your free quota and balance. Reset when you sign out.
Email address — only if you provide one (during checkout, account login, or feedback). Used to send transactional notifications and receipts.
Pet photos you upload — temporarily stored to generate your wallpaper. We don't use them to train any AI model.
Pet name & species — used as the prompt for AI generation, and as a verification token for account recovery.
IP address & browser user-agent — logged for security and abuse prevention.
Payment metadata — Stripe processes payments; we receive amount, tier, and a Stripe customer ID. We never see or store your full card number.

2. How we use it

To generate the AI wallpaper and video you requested.
To send transactional emails: when your wallpaper is ready, when your payment is received, when a stranger receives a wallpaper funded by your support.
To process payments via Stripe.
To detect and prevent abuse (e.g., automated scraping of free quota).
To improve the product (anonymized aggregate metrics — never individual data).

3. Third-party services we use

To deliver Pawprint we share data with these processors:

OpenAI — your pet photo and prompt are sent for image generation. OpenAI's API data policy states API inputs are not used to train their models.
Replicate — used to generate the animated video from the still frame. Same data minimization principles apply.
ByteDance (Seedream-4) — fallback image generator if OpenAI fails. Photo and prompt are sent.
Supabase — database and file storage host (USA region).
Vercel — web application hosting.
Stripe — payment processing. Card data goes directly to Stripe and never touches our servers.
Resend — email delivery service.
Cloudflare — DNS provider for joinpawprint.app.

4. Cookies

We use only two cookies, both strictly functional:

pawprint_uid — your anonymous identity (1-year expiry, HttpOnly, Secure)
NEXT_LOCALE — remembers your language preference (1-year expiry)

We do not use any tracking, analytics, advertising, or cross-site cookies. No third-party trackers run on this site.

5. Data retention

Your account data (cookie UUID, email, balance) — kept until you request deletion.
Generated wallpapers and videos — kept for 90 days from creation, then deleted from storage. Your local downloads remain yours.
Uploaded original photos — kept for 30 days for support purposes, then deleted.
Email logs (Resend) — retained 30 days per Resend's policy.
Payment records (Stripe) — retained per Stripe's policy and required for tax/audit purposes (typically 7 years).

6. Your rights

You can:

Access a copy of all your data we hold
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and all associated data
Withdraw consent for marketing emails (toggle in account settings)
Object to processing
File a complaint with your local data protection authority

7. International users

Pawprint is operated from the United States. If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction, your data is transferred to and processed in the US. By using Pawprint, you consent to this transfer.

EU users have rights under GDPR; California residents have rights under CCPA. Email us to exercise any of these rights.

8. Children

Pawprint is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used Pawprint, email us and we will delete the account.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be announced via email to users with email accounts on file.
